The Research and Applied AI Summit (RAAIS) is a community for entrepreneurs and researchers who accelerate the science and applications of AI technology. In the lead up to our 5th annual event on June 28th 2019 in London, we’re running a series of speaker profiles to shed more light on what you can expect to learn on the day!

Real world applications of AI often present challenges such as uncertainty, and multiple agents with different goals operating in dynamic environments. To explore the implementation of advanced probabilistic systems, we’re excited to welcome Sarah Jarvis to RAAIS 2019! Sarah is a computer engineer and neuroscientist with a career founded on applying intelligent solutions to real-world problems. As Head of Data Science at PROWLER.io in Cambridge, she works with a global team of researchers and engineers in building PROWLER.io’s ground-breaking decision-making platform.

In her talk, Sarah will describe applications of AI where there's not only uncertainty, but also unknown values that need to be worked with. She will motivate the need for an integrated approach that combines several sub-disciplines to solve problems such as scheduling transport when stock levels are unknown and unobservable.

Born in Australia, she trained at Freiburg University in Germany and Imperial College in London. Prior to joining PROWLER.io, she worked in public health, building machine learning tools to help developing countries decide how to best allocate budgets for their health programmes. Working closely with the World Bank, she helped to guide the allocation of budgets worth in total more than $250 million.
