The Research and Applied AI Summit (RAAIS) is a community for entrepreneurs and researchers who accelerate the science and applications of AI technology. In the lead up to our 5th annual event on June 28th 2019 in London, we’re running a series of speaker profiles to shed more light on what you can expect to learn on the day!

At this year’s RAAIS, we are excited to support a talented group of young AI researchers who we believe will be driving the field forward in years to come. Coline Devin is a 4th year PhD student in Computer Science (Artificial Intelligence) at UC Berkeley. She is advised by Professors Sergey Levine, Pieter Abbeel and Trevor Darrell, together world-renowned leaders in robotics and AI. Her research lies at the intersection of deep learning, computer vision, and robotics, with specific interest in transfer learning and representation learning. Her recent work has been focused on representing and incorporating objects into data-driven robot learning, as well as ensuring that learned policies transfer to new tasks and environments.

Coline has co-authored 8 papers already, which have included publications at major conferences such as ICRA, ICLR, and CORL. She is also the recipient of the NSF Graduate Fellowship in 2017, which recruits high-potential, early-career scientists and engineers and supports their graduate research training in STEM fields. RAAIS 2019 won’t be the first time Coline spends time in London - she was previously an intern at DeepMind in 2015 where she focused on curiosity and efficient exploration for AI agents. Coline also completed internships at MILA in Montreal on NLP and at Google for software engineering.
