Laurens van der Maaten is a Senior Research Director at Meta AI (FAIR team), where he leads a large research team that pursues some of FAIR's most ambitious research efforts. Prior, he worked as an Assistant Professor at Delft University of Technology (The Netherlands) and as a post-doctoral researcher at University of California, San Diego. His research received Best Paper Awards at CVPR 2017 and UAI 2021. Laurens is interested in a variety of topics in artificial intelligence, including large-scale weakly supervised learning, privacy, and AI for science.
