The Research and Applied AI Summit (RAAIS) is a community for entrepreneurs and researchers who accelerate the science and applications of AI technology. In the run up to our 8th annual event on June 14th 2024 in London, we’re running a series of speaker profiles to shed more light on what you can expect to learn on the day!
At RAAIS we have a focus on translating cutting edge technology and research into production-grade products for real-world problems.
Thore is Global Head of Computational Science, AI, and Machine Learning at Altos Labs. Altos Labs is a biotechnology company that focuses on cellular regeneration, aiming to understand and partially reverse the biological processes of aging. They are focusing on the potential of ‘partial reprogramming’, where cells are rejuvenated to a state that makes them more resilient to stress without losing their specialized functions.
The company, which emerged from stealth in 2022 with $3 billion in funding, was founded by experienced scientists who held senior leadership roles at GSK, the National Cancer Institute, and GRAIL.
Prior to joining Altos Labs, Thore held senior research roles at Google DeepMind and Microsoft. His work includes co-inventing AlphaGo and developing the technology behind Xbox Live’s TrueSkill and Bing’s AdPredictor.
Thore has held academic positions at ETH Zurich, Royal Holloway College, University of London, and currently serves as Chair of Machine Learning at University College London.
